Film on filmmaker’s dream trip to premiere in Toronto Saturday

A film from a Campbell River filmmaker will debut at a film festival in Toronto this weekend.

Suzanne Jolly’s A Wilder Way documents her dream ride to a remote area off BC’s coast.

Jolly says she explored the idea of this trip over 10 years ago.

“When I suddenly lost my ability to ride—and do a lot of other things – I set the dream aside,” said Jolly.

“I had to focus on the abilities I could regain—riding wasn’t even on my radar for quite a few years.”

According to Jolly Good Multimedia, a Campbell River company, Jolly relearned how to adventure ride after dealing with a mild brain injury before filming with the owner of Marine Link Tours, Guy Adams for her first documentary series.

It was around that time she mentioned her dream trip, with Adams offering his crew and a landing craft for her to go on this trip.

They say she turned her trip into a film, recruiting three female riders from BC and Alberta to take part.

While she is excited for the film to premiere in Toronto, Jolly says she looks forward to show it in Campbell River.

“From the beautiful footage by Stan Novotny, amazing editing by Dan Peruzzo, storyline and concept development help from Ross Bodenmann, logo design by Benjamin Thompson, animations by Grady Robertson, audio work by Douglas MacDonald — all of us live and work here in Campbell River,” said Jolly.

The film will debut at the Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival on October 5, with plans to bring it to the Campbell River Festival of Film on February 11 next year.
