Woman in police custody after RCMP respond to violent domestic dispute call

CAMPBELL RIVER, BC – The Campbell River RCMP have arrested a woman after responding to a violent dispute call.

According to an emailed statement from the detachment, officers were called to a residence near 9th Ave and Ironwood St on April 24th at 9:30 p.m.

When police arrived at the home, officers located a 43-year-old male on the front lawn with knife injuries that required immediate medical attention. He was taken by ambulance to the Campbell River hospital.

Officers were also able to speak with a 33-year-old woman inside the residence. The statement added that she was eventually arrested for assault causing bodily harm and is now in police custody.

The injured man was transported to Victoria to receive treatment. Police said he is in serious but stable condition.

Campbell River Major Crime, Forensic Identification and General Duty Sections are currently investigating, with a search warrant being sought for the home.

The Campbell River RCMP said there is no danger to the public.
