Airport fees will change for the local airport as City Council has adopted a new bylaw.
Called Airport Operation, Maintenance, and Management Amendment Bylaw No. 3983, it aims to address operational costs and improve revenue generation for the City of Campbell River Airport.
On the April 10 meeting, mayor and council officially adopted this bylaw, resulting in changes to the Airport’s fee structure, affecting passenger and aircraft landing fees, general service charge, and parking fees.
The city says for commercial airlines, there’s no fee changes to help keep travelling affordable for customers.
For passenger fees, the city says it’ll be $9 per enplaned and deplaned passenger, airport improvement fees will be $10 per enplaned passenger, and for regulatory recovery fees, it’ll be $3.50 per enplaned passenger.
They say for domestic flights, aircraft landing fees will range from $7 to $9 per 1,000 kilograms of maximum takeoff weight for based aircraft depending on the aircraft’s weight, while international flights, the price ranges from $9 to $14.
When it comes to general service, the lowest charge will be $14 for a seating capacity of 1 to 6 people for domestic flights, with the highest being $1,000 if capacity is over 200 people. For international flights, the charge is $21 for 1 to 6 people, and $2,100 for over 200 people.
The bylaw adds dropping off or picking up people at the airport will be free for the first 90 minutes, with a daily parking fee of $6 up to 12 hours, $9 in overnight parking up to 24 hours, $45 for weekly parking, $115 for monthly parking, and $700 for annual parking.
City council hopes with this bylaw adopted, it can increase annual revenue by $61,500.
Changes will come into effect May 1. To read the full bylaw, click here.
