The Downtown Business Improvement Association is about to get a bit bigger, with the addition of 11th Street businesses.
Earlier this year the association asked to add businesses on both sides of 11th Avenue. Council agreed and after several months of preparations, the city is making it official through a bylaw.
The legislation is required to expand the BIA’s boundaries and allow for local service taxes to be collected, money which is used to fund specific initiatives in the area. It’s also required to renew the association’s funding agreement with the city.
Property owners within the BIA who oppose the renewal and expansion have until May 6 to register their comments with the city.
