Ferries between Campbell River and Quadra Island have been cancelled all day and won’t resume until later tonight, if winds die down by then.
Sailings have been cancelled since this morning, and are now cancelled until after 8 pm tonight.
Several sailings between Quadra and Cortes Islands were also cancelled today for the same reason. They resumed with the 3:55 departure from Whaletown.
Winds from the southeast have been gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour in the Johnstone Strait, causing high waves and unsafe conditions for ferries to operate.
