A 37-year-old man is facing forcible confinement and weapons charges after an incident on Westgate Road this week.
On February 19, Campbell River RCMP responded to a residence in the 300-block of Westgate Road after a a report that a person had been forcibly confined with a firearm. The person managed to escape prior to police arrival and the suspect fled the residence.
Later the same day, the suspect was taken into custody at a nearby location and transported to cells for processing.
During the investigation a search warrant was executed on a related residence and two firearms were seized.
On Thursday, 37-year-old, Padan Cassidy Ashcroft was charged with assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats. He remains in custody.
