Fishing lodge near Bute Inlet seeks to add brewery or liquor store

A remote fishing lodge northeast of Campbell River is hoping to add either retail liquor sales or a brewery to the existing resort.

The Fishermans Landing and Lodge is located near the mouth of Bute Inlet, north of Sonora Island and Dent Island. The owners are applying to the Strathcona Regional District for a zoning amendment to allow either a liquor store or on-site brewery. Along with fishing charters, it already has a restaurant, lodge, dock, and fuel sales on site.

The owners have also applied to the province to transfer an existing liquor licence to the site, if the zoning amendment is approved.

The regional district’s advisory planning commission for Area C is reviewing the request this week.
