Residents of Quadra Island are still in the dark, after the first storm of the year brought in high winds and downed power lines.
This caused significant outages yesterday, which means it’s all hands on deck for BC Hydro today (Jan. 6th) as its works to restore the power.
As crews weren’t able to make their way over to Quadra yesterday due to cancelled ferries, locals are being left without power for far longer than expected.
BC Hydro says crews are either on-site or already assigned to multiple sites on Quadra. Most were scheduled to arrive by 8:00 am. Updates will be posted to this website throughout the day.
Power outages can happen at any time, so BC Hydro is stressing the importance of being prepared. While crews work to minimize duration and impact, BC Hydro says it’s difficult to know how long an outage will last. Find a full list of outage preparation tips here.
