One hospitalized for smoke inhalation after mobile home fire on Croation Rd

CAMPBELL RIVER, BC – One person was sent to the hospital after a structure fire yesterday afternoon.

The Campbell River Fire Department responded to a call from the 1600 block of Croation Rd around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fire Chief Thomas Doherty said when crews arrived at the scene, smoke was coming out from the mobile home.

“We were met by the home occupant, who was outside, and he advised that he put a garden hose on to knock the fire down,” Doherty said.

He said that the fire originated in the kitchen area, and that crews were able to contain it to that one area of the mobile home.

“There was some damage to the walls, the cabinets of the kitchen, and the stove appliances as well.”

The mobile homeowner suffered from some smoke inhalation, and was transported to the Campbell River hospital for observation.

There were no other injuries or damage at the scene.
